Choose the right bike

An electric bike can give the feeling of tailwind when riding. What is worth remembering is that if the engine or battery breaks, due to cheap components, you are just left with a bike that can be too heavy to ride.

Therefore, it is important to be careful choosing the right bike even though the cost of this bike might be high.

The features of an e-bike

One of the reasons, why electric bikes are expensive is that the components are more expensive than the components from regular bikes. This includes both the motor, the battery, and the battery charger.

As an e-bike is electric, it also has to get waterproofed so the rain does not break the electronics of the bike. However, all these costs also contribute to all of the amazing features, that e-bikes consist of.

What does an e-bike cost?

Typically, the average electric bike will be more expensive than the average regular bike. However, this does not mean that you have to pay 2-3.000 EURO for a good e-bike, although you can. There are also many good electric bikes to the price of around 1-1.500 EURO.

Incidentally, it is also completely wrong to make a direct comparison between an ordinary bicycle and an electric bicycle. While the regular bike is an excellent alternative means of transport, an electric bike can actually replace car number two.

It can make the 10-15 kilometer trip you may have at work affordable and possible without a bath afterward. In this way, you can say that the electric bike is a cheap alternative to the car.

How to charge an e-bike

An e-bike needs power, which can be confusing to deal with, as it needs to be charged. Luckily, it is very easy to charge the bike as an electric bicycle can easily be charged in a normal socket.

Moreover, you can easily get both to and from work on one single charge if you live less than 30 kilometers from work. The cost of each charge will most of the time not exceed 0,1 EURO, which suggests a much cheaper alternative than, for example, the car. Therefore, an e-bike can be seen as an economically good choice.

A regular bike or an e-bike? What to choose?

As stated at the beginning of this article, the cost of an e-bike is worth taking into consideration. However, the cheapest alternative is not always the best one. A cheap e-bike can be expensive in the long term, as the motor or battery more likely will break down and you will therefore need to repair it, which can be expensive.

Finally, there may also be some safety concerns when choosing the electric bike. This is one of the main reasons why we have developed the integrated bike lock. But one thing is for sure – if you get a bike with PentaLock integrated, you have a smaller thing to deal with.
